I think every mom can relate when I say going into Target without your kids is like a vacation on its own. I first stop by Starbucks and grab my latte, and then I start in the bathing-suit section and work my way around the store. It is amazing how many things you absolutely need after leaving there that you didn’t even know existed before you walked inside those red sliding-glass doors.
When I first saw the newly launched Pillowfort collection in the home-decor section at Target, I found myself wishing it had existed when I was younger and/or even in my dorm room. The Pillowfort line has 12 well-designed and imaginatively curated collections that reflect both the creativity and imagination of the kids, and the style and functionality that us parents want. I was instantly drawn to Marvelous Manner and Modern Mirage collections for myself. As I walked through the aisles I started noticing so many new pieces that would go great in the boys’ rooms, such as Camp Kiddo and Ocean Oasis.
Braydon’s room is all navy, white and gray with touches of the coast and all things boy. His nursery originally started as a vintage-sports theme but as he has gotten older and adopted his own personality we have started to add pieces of the ocean and space. Pieces of the Ocean Oasis, Stellar Station and Creature Cave collections are perfect for him. Walker’s room is all gray, white and wood – a woodsy theme. He just had his first birthday and his personality is showing so much. I am loving the Camp Kiddo and Explorer’s Escape collections for him.
Instantly I was inspired to transform Walker’s once super plain teepee and corner of his room into a comfortable and colorful area for him and Braydon to play, explore and use their imagination. One of the other key pieces I also loved was the storage items. The boys have so many toys shoved into closets, toy chests and drawers that never get played with. Having easily accessible storage that allows them to see all of their toys but also keeps their room clean sounded like the ideal situation.
I decided to throw in a fun, colorful fringe pillow from the Marvelous Manner Collection, mostly for my own selfish reasons but also because I thought it would be fun to incorporate more colors into Walker’s room since right now it is mostly white and gray with a few darker accents.
