“Every year the women of NY leave the past behind & look forward to the future – this is known as fashion week” || Carrie Bradshaw
I have to admit, when Sex and the City was on t.v. – I wasn’t much into it. I think I was just a few years too young to really appreciate it and didn’t really get to catch up on it until just a few years ago.
But NYFW is the one time of year that I can’t believe it is really happening in my life. One of my most unforgettable moments this year was actually sitting at the Rebecca Minkoff show waiting for it to start. She is one of the first designers I fell in love with and looked up to.
The event was outside on the streets of NYC right outside of her store. There was a live band and crowds of 1000’s of people were gathering in the streets to try to see what was going on and to watch the show them selves. I could not believe that I for one, had a seat at this magical show, and two that it was all really happening and that I was a part of it. Surrounded by the noises of cabs, the tall buildings and the hustle of the city it all seemed to disappear as soon as the runway show started. This year she decided to have two bloggers walk for her that I have followed for several years now, Something Navy and Peace Love Shea. While I do not know either of the girls personally, I have followed Arielle for several years and we have a few mutual friends and have met Shea twice at events in Miami at Swim Week. I love that RM included girls who have also looked up to her as a designer for years and are in the same profession as myself in her show. It made it seem so much more relatable and that much more magical.
