My girlfriends and I decided to start a tradition of a monthly wine night hosted at a different persons home each month; this month I got to play hostess! Fall is my favorite time of year for decor and since it was just before Halloween I threw in a bit of that as well! I decided to go with cozy fall vibes which included a bonfire, pillows and blankets, mums and a few occasional Halloween decorations popped in here and there.
On our menu was:
Wine – of course!
Avocado, Tomato and Onion Salad
Fruit Tray
Warm Bean and Cheese Dip
Chicken on mini sticks
S’mores
Since we typically have the normal wines we can pick up at our local grocery store or that are available year ’round, I decided to get us into the fall mood with festive, friendly and joyful wines ALL about the fall Harvest – Georges Duboeuf Wines. And I loved that it is only available this time of year. This wine is always released on the third Thursday of November, making it an annual tradition that also ushers in the start of the holiday season. I felt like it was perfect for saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall and the Holidays.
Our biggest hit was the Georges Duboeuf 2016 Beaujolais Nouveau. Beaujolais Nouveau can be thought of as the first taste of a new vintage, the first wine of the harvest and an indicator for the quality of that year’s vintage. Beaujolais Nouveau is meant for immediate drinking and should be served chilled. The wine is fresh, fruity and festive! Vibrant bright red fruit is always the signature flavor of Beaujolais Nouveau and it is best enjoyed with friends and family (and food!). Also, the wine’s bright red fruit, fine and subtle tannins, lower alcohol, and high acidity make it a great wine for Pinot Noir drinkers who are looking to try something new.
Beaujolais-Villages is a great entry-level wine for consumers who are new to Beaujolais.
