Hey friends!! After much request I am going to start covering more series on #30a from a locals perspective! Everything from where to stay, where to eat, where to shop – etc!
Let’s start with a topic you are going to need to research before you get here! Where to stay::
(these pink shutters are located in Alys Beach)
Rosemary Beach Area
We recently rented a gorgeous home, Serenity via Oversee rental Agency in Rosemary beach right behind the grass square where the farmers market is hosted every Sunday! The house had a guest house with a king size bed and second kitchen/living area. It makes it perfect for multiple families or families and grandparents to rent. You could walk to all dining and it was across the street from the pool!
The Pearl (couples) – We have stayed here as a couple and love it but honestly wouldn’t recommend with kids. The pool is part of the spa and doesn’t allow children
The Pointe (families)- These condos have a huge and pretty shallow pool which is great for kids, food on site, full kitchens to cook in the condo or hire a chef! 2-3 bedroom options give lots of space and privacy!
Seacrest Area
There are cute little condos but personally have never stayed here to give much advice
Seaside
We LOVE staying in Seaside with young kids due to the ease of not really needing to get in your car to eat or do anything in the area. You can walk everywhere, grab quick groceries at Modica and there are plenty of resturants without ever driving.
If you are going to want to hang out in Seaside it is a lot easier to stay there, park at the house and be able to walk most places because in the spring and summer months there is about zero parking most of the time! We always rent houses in Seaside for staycatioins through Cottage Rental Agency. You get access to the beach, Seaside pool, gym and other amenities! They also give a bottle of wine when you check in.
Watercolor
We LOVE the Watercolor Inn (picture below) which also has an amazing pool for kids at their beach club – you can grab chairs anywhere around the pool or we sometimes rent a cabana! You can also rent houses ion Watercolor through Cottage Rental Agency and other local agencies + it is an easy walk to Seaside! There are several restaurants in this square to eat at too!
Blue Mountain
The Sanctuary at Redfish has come highly recommended to us over the years! We decided to book a staycation here this spring to try it out ourselves! We loved it! It is much more quiet and private than other condos in the area. They offer complimentary canoes to paddle around in the lake and a complimentary pontoon shuttle to and from the beach! The pool was extremely large and not overcrowded which we also loved!
This area is not quite as crowded as the areas listed above which is sometimes nice! Less options to walk to for dining but there are a few, and Grayton Beach is a super quick bike ride or walk away! You could also rent a golf cart to get around!
Gulf Place to Dune Allen
Anywhere west of these areas are going to be more than likely through VRBO or a local rental agency. The further west the more “local” it is with more full time residents. Less rentals and less people except right in the Gulf Place/Shunk Gulley square. There are some condos for rent in Gulf Place too but I honestly would recommend a house if you have a family of more than 2 people.
