For us, it is that time – Charli is two and we are ready to start potty training, we think?!?!? I am traveling for work next week but when I get home – we are gonna go for it!
Hints they are ready to start potty training:
Fewer changes per day. Infants go to the bathroom small amounts all day every day, as our babies grow – they go more less frequently, as we do.
They tell you when they have to go potty. When they start telling you they need to go or that they went potty, they are probably mature enough to be taught to tell you before they go.
They no longer like wet diapers and ask to be changed. When they start saying, “mommy change me” or “mommy ew” – odds are, they no longer like the feeling of being ‘dirty’ so they are more likely to take onto potty training easier.
Ways to ease into potty training:
I am by no means an expert, our boys were both fairly easy to potty train. I got lucky with them! Plus, this is my first time potty training a girl – but, kids are kids are kids. So, I am thinking the theories I used on the boys will also work on Charli.
-Change diapers only in the bathroom
-Switch to Pull ups / or use the naked method
-Use incentives when they try and/or go to the bathroom on the potty
-Do not punish them for accidents
