Did you know that after the first week of January has passed, about 25% of people who made new years resolutions have already quit? I have to think to myself why is that?
A few years ago I decided to stop making new years resolutions per say. Why? Because y’all – if I hadnt quit after the first week I quit about a week later! My own reasoning was because I was setting unrealistic goals for myself such as joining a new gym and working out 5 days a week. Well, zero to 5 is a lot! I decided that instead of making resolutions once a year I would take time each week to reflect on the past week and how I did, what I can do better and ways I can slowly improve. No more spinning 180 degrees in the opposite direction to set my self up for failure and disappointment.
Ways that I do this are, make sure to take time to relax by myself, take time to relax with and enjoy my family, and take time to make us home made meals multiple times a week which usually ends up being 4-6 nights a week. Surprisingly, as long as I don’t have a baby screaming on my leg for attention I really love to cook.
Today I am sharing some of my favorite items I recieved via my Babbleboxx to help me do each of these things year round. Not just in the month of January 😉
Oprah Winfrey’s Food, Health and Happiness cookbook has not only inspirational stories but also 115 on-point recipes that are not only healthy but also satisfying and delicious. I am not the dieting type. I enjoy looking at it over my morning coffee trying to decide what to make for dinner as well as indulge in some of her articles within the book.
Is anyone else a big snacker? I am – especially when I cook and if I am not snacking I am sticking my fingers in the food so I might as well keep a snack on hand. I do my best to keep healthy choices such as one of my favorites Made in Nature snacks. One of my favorite flavors is the fiber filled Coco Crunch because it helps with my chocolate cravings I have had my entire life and gives me an energy boost! Trust me – I do give into chocolate more than I should. But these help to keep me from getting out of control “chocolate wasted”-haha yes I took that term from the movie Grown Ups. When I am relaxing by myself – especially now that I am pregnant – I can only have one cup of coffee a day so I have switched over to drinking hot teas. I love the organic teas from Tea Forté.
