Hi yall! We just got back from an amazing trip to St. Johns and the British Virgin Islands. We are officially ISLAND lovers! Last week, I shared everything I packed and wore on our trip you can check that out HERE, this week I am sharing what we did and what we loved! Save this post if you are traveling to St.. Johns or you are looking for a family vacation. I highly recommend!

Day 1
We started the day hiking at Ramshead! Go early, was a swimsuit to be able to cool off in the water and bring lots of water, it’s considered a kid friendly hike but it is hot and a lot of rocks! The Salt pond bay is really cool, there is a tropical plant called Purslane that grows beside it. Taste it, it’s salty and tart! The cobblestone beach was also really amazing. The sound of the water on the rocks was beautiful!
We then ate at Skinny Legs, they are known for their burgers but we actually preferred the Jerk Chicken! There are wild chickens that roam the restaurant that the kids thought were hilarious!
We then headed to The Beach Bar for a drink and cooled off watching the boats coming in.
For dinner we went to The Longboard. Everything was so delicious and they had great cocktails!
Day 2
We rented a private boat with Captain Ryan who took us to all of the best snorkeling locations! I have heard great things about all of their captains and even met a few at some of the stops along the day! Everyone was so great and highly recommend them the next time you come to visit.
We at lunch at @limeoutvi – the tacos were 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
We docked back up around 4pm and cleaned up for dinner at @morgansmango92 for a nicer dinner – they don’t have a kids menu there but our kids split a few of the adults meals and devoured it! The food and espresso martinis were superb!
Day 3
We broke our boat days with days exploring St. John. We rented Jeeps when we got into town and that was a must to get around the island!
We started at Sugar Mill ruins trail. It was super cool and a super kid friendly hike! Plus lots of shade which was nice.
We then walked across the street over to snorkel and swim at Cinnamon Bay which has the iconic window overlooking the ocean! The sand was some of the softest sand we have ever felt, which says a lot coming from our sugar white sands on #30a. It felt like kinetic sand!
We then went to a late lunch at The Windmill Bar! Pretty sure they have the prettiest view on the entire island!
We came back that night and ordered in food and called it an early night since we were heading out to the BVI’s the next morning!
Day 4
Our first stop was to customs on Jost Van Dyke and then we walked over to Soggy Dollar for breakfast, which was amazing by the way!
We then stopped st Sandy Spit, it was a tiny island that made us feel like we were on castaway! You could walk from one end of the little island in just one minute or so!
Next stop were some really cool areas that Island Roots Adventures wanted us to see that we had not heard of which was super cool. One of the stops was on Tortola and it was def worth the stop!
We also cruised out to Virgin Gorda Baths! Holy cow was that AMAZING! I will say if your kids have water shoes it will help, we left ours on the boat but wish they had them for some of the areas. You HAVE to stop here if you go to the BVI’s tho, truly magical.
On the way back to #StJohn we went by WillyT floating boat bar. The kids (and Ryan) LOVED jumping off the back of the boat with all of the other people around. We cooled off and had a couple of cocktails and drinks before heading all the way back to USVI!
Hands down one of the best and coolest days of our lives making memories that will last a lifetime!
Day 5
This was our last day so we spent it exploring the rest of St John that we had not been able to see yet.
Our first stop was Mayo Bay, know for the large quantity of sea turtles and it did not disappoint. The kids absolutely LOVED it! There is also a cute little area set up of smaller food trucks/booths to eat and grab drinks and souvineers. The food was honestly so fresh and amazing!
We then drove over to Trunk Bay – the water at Trunk Bay is clearer than Maho and easier to see the coral when snorkeling but they both are equally as gorgeous.
These were 2 of the more crowded beaches of the trip but still nothing compared to home!
We then came home and showered and got ready for dinner at Banana Deck! The food was delish and a must visit! Again they didn’t have a kids menu but we got a few different adult meals and the kids all shared them!
