I found my inspiration to write this post when I decided to team up with Stage for the month of October. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It is about women supporting women. Women helping women. And women loving women. After having a daughter, I became much more aware of women’s health and selfcare, as I want to be a great role model for my little girl. After all, she only gets one mom to look up to – be the best mom and role model you can be.
Have you ever been through an experience and thought, gosh – I wish someone had told me that earlier? I do not want my daughter to ever think, why didn’t my mom teach me this? So this letter is for you my baby girl, in honor of breast cancer awareness month. #ipinkican
My sweet Charli girl,
- You are beautiful. You are more beautiful than you will ever know. Not just because you are my daughter, but also because every girl is so beautiful in their own way. Look in the mirror every single day. Love yourself, love your body, love your mind. Praise your own strengths.
- You have the ability to change our world. Whether you want to be a doctor, lawyer, politician, or stay-at-home mom. You are changing every life you interact with. Why? Because you are you, and you are irreplaceable.
- Enjoy your own company. I wish I had learned this at a much younger age. In middle school and high school, even into college. I never wanted to be alone. I wanted to be everywhere, everyone else was. I was always looking for someone else’s company to increase my happiness. When I finally start doing things on my own, I realized how liberating it truly is to do what I want to do when I want to do it and relying on only me to make myself happy. This is truly when you find out who YOU are.
- Be heard. Have a voice. Have an opinion, share your opinion. Peoples thoughts, voices, and opinions influence others. Use yours to influence people for what you believe is right and good.
- Turn your passion into your career. My passion was makeup, hair and fashion. I turned each of these into my careers. Do not learn to love your career, find the career that fits into what you love.
- Find your happy place. Visit it daily. Mine is the beach, where is yours? Go!
- Find friends who make you better. True friends love you. True friends make you feel good. True friends help you. True friends clap for you. Never be afraid to let someone go. Trust me! But, make sure you are clapping for them too.
- Comparison is the thief of joy. If you find yourself comparing yourself to others, remove yourself from the situation. Delete the ‘friend’, delete the social media app, turn off the t.v. Whatever it takes, delete.
- I will be here for you, no matter what. I will always be your number one fan, even when you make mistakes. I love you, more than you know, no matter what.
- Love yourself. Love yourself, baby, because I love you. I see your value, your strengths, and your beauty. Make sure you see it too.
